Thanks Jerod and Hector. I listen to all the True Hoops shows. It’s so nice to have smart folks covering sports.
I must say I am your perfect fan. I like when my Raptors are winning, but my real love comes from seeing growth and development. Raptors continue to up their game with the hire of Darko Rajakovic. He finds unique ways to motivate and assure players reach potential and play the right way. Then Grady Dick struggled last year they gave him a personal coach who took him back to basics; foot works, reading the floor knowing options and when to use them. You could all this in his improvement after allstar. For further info, read Grange’s article on SN. Oh, and as you discussed today, Darko checks in with most players daily and is not afraid to say he loves them. Yes, this is part of building winning ways. They all know he cares.
The Raptors also “Paid” their 2 top guys this summer. This keeps with your team cost approach. Pay them now as the centre of your rebuild. Pay them for the growth you saw this year and what you expect. Pay them now as they approach the height of their career, not when they are old and injured. Raps are betting on their talent and infrastructure for the future.
There is lots to love about the league these days. Can hardly wait, although the WNBA is easily filling the void.
